About Us

Our Philosophy

At Sequoia Growth Partners, we believe success and fulfillment aren’t the result of trying harder — they come from understanding the systems shaping your life, and designing them to work for you.

Our approach combines psychological insight with structured, systems-based coaching. We help thoughtful individuals uncover the emotional, behavioral, and environmental patterns influencing their outcomes — and use that clarity to identify leverage points for lasting, meaningful change.

Like engineers solving complex problems, we focus first on understanding the system — then intentionally redesign the components. The result is growth that’s not forced or fragile, but aligned, sustainable, and intelligent.

The Five Pillars of Intelligent Life Design

Visual framework of Sequoia Growth Partners’ coaching pillars

1) Clarity First

Before you can fix or refine anything, you must first understand the systems and forces driving it.

2) Systems Over Willpower

Success flows from the systems you live inside — not from isolated bursts of effort.

3) Alignment Fuels Fulfillment

Fulfillment grows naturally when your actions and inner values are aligned toward the same outcomes.

4) Design Growth to Endure

Lasting success is built through systems that endure stress, adapt to complexity, and remain sustainable over time.

5) Leverage Points for Efficient Change

Meaningful change happens by identifying and acting on small, critical leverage points — where your effort is maximized.

Our Mission

Helping thoughtful individuals redesign their lives intelligently — through systems thinking, strategic clarity, and emotional insight that leads to lasting fulfillment.

Our Foundation

Drawing from systems thinking, psychology, neuroscience, and engineering, our work focuses on understanding how lives actually function — so we can improve them with precision, not force.

Meet Our Founder

Andrew “Andy” Newman is an adventurer at heart and a systems thinker by training. With a background in mechanical engineering and a deep passion for psychology, Andy founded Sequoia Growth Partners to bridge the gap between structured problem-solving and human development.

Andy is a therapist-in-training and has worked closely with renowned leadership scholar Dr. Bruce Avolio at the University of Washington’s Center for Leadership and Strategic Thinking, where he contributed to leadership development research and assessment. His experience spans engineering innovation, organizational behavior, and psychological insight—giving him a rare ability to navigate both systems and the people within them.

Outside of his coaching work, Andy is an avid hiker, backpacker, and all-around nature enthusiast. Whether navigating remote trails or challenging summit routes, he finds joy, perspective, and inspiration in the outdoors—and brings that same spirit of exploration to the growth journeys he supports.

Whether guiding a client through a professional challenge or trekking through the backcountry, Andy brings curiosity, compassion, and a deep belief in the human capacity for change.
